2s Team Session
Got a teammate? Bring them with you to get better together!
1. Warm-Up & Initial Analysis (10-15 minutes)
Warm-up Free Play: The player(s) will spend 5-10 minutes in Free Play to loosen up and prepare for the session.
Replay Review: The coach will analyze a recent replay from the player to identify key areas of improvement in positioning, rotations, and decision-making.
2. Positional Play & Rotations (15-20 minutes)
Positioning Drills: The coach will guide the player through positioning exercises to improve awareness of space, field control, and playing off their teammate’s movements. This includes:
Offensive Positioning: Understanding how to position effectively for passes, shots, and offensive pressure.
Defensive Positioning: Learning when to rotate back, cut rotations, or shadow defend without double committing.
Third-Man Positioning: In situations where a player needs to hover and wait for opportunities to arise while maintaining field coverage.
Rotational Play: The coach will work with the player to refine their rotations in both offensive and defensive scenarios. Key elements include:
Avoiding Double Commits: Understanding how to properly communicate (through in-game cues) and space out from your teammate.
Efficient Rotations: Utilizing quick recoveries, boost management, and proper movement to ensure smooth transitions between attack and defense.
3. Mechanics & Game Awareness (20 minutes)
Advanced Mechanics in 2v2: The coach will focus on the most critical mechanics required for 2v2 play:
Controlled Touches: Players will work on maximizing ball control during aerial plays, ground dribbles, and wall plays.
Dribbling & Flicks: Developing the ability to create solo plays in 1v1 situations or against shadowing defenders.
Boost Management: Learning how to use boost wisely in 2v2, ensuring efficient recoveries and rotations.
Decision-Making Drills: Players will practice in scenarios designed to help them improve decision-making in high-pressure situations:
Knowing When to Challenge: Learning the right moments to challenge for 50/50s and when to shadow the opponent.
Recognizing Over-Commitments: The coach will emphasize the importance of knowing when to back off and not over-extend.
4. Scrim & Situational Play (15-20 minutes)
2v2 Scrimmage: The coach will set up a live 2v2 scrim (with or without another player) to simulate real in-game situations. During the scrim, the focus will be on:
Applying positional and mechanical lessons in a game scenario.
Providing live feedback on rotations, decisions, and mechanics.
Correcting mistakes and encouraging good habits.
Game Sense Coaching: During the scrim, the coach will highlight important game sense strategies:
Awareness of the Opponent: Teaching players how to track opponents' positioning and exploit their mistakes.
Teamwork and Synergy: Working on chemistry with the teammate to ensure smooth passes, follow-ups, and covering each other’s weaknesses.
5. Post-Scrim Replay Analysis & Feedback (10-15 minutes)
Replay Breakdown: Reviewing the scrim or earlier gameplay with the player, identifying key moments where decision-making, positioning, or mechanics could have been improved.
Key Takeaways & Next Steps: The coach will provide feedback on the player’s performance and outline specific drills or focus areas for the player to work on in their own time.
